| *--02.my footprint |
After doing the quiz, I found out that my ecological footprint is 6 which was quite surprising since I thought it would turn out higher. Comparing to the whole country ecological footprint which is 8.8, I think I did pretty good. However it would take 3.3 planets if everyone lived like me, which doesn’t look that good. My family and I have done many things to be environmental friendly. We always recycle whatever we can and try to limit our garbage. We usually take the TTC since we only own one car but we barely use it. We turn off things that we are not using and we also use efficient light bulbs and even our washer and dryer is also energy saving. However if the world depends on one family to improve our world’s ecological footprint, that is impossible. To improve our footprint, we all need to work together to help prevent our environmental issues. I think our biggest issues are pollution and global warming which is hard to fix without everyone’s help. Littering is also another issue, which causes pollution. I know that in Hong Kong you can get a fine of HK$1500 if you get caught of littering. After that law was released, people can really find a big change on the streets. That have also influenced other countries start to have the same law. I have noticed that this is a big issue for our future. Therefore we need to improve and adapt to our friendly environment. |

Yes, we did found out our "ecological footprint" but I don't find it very accurate. I just wish they made quizzes that focuses on different age groups as the quiz was too generalized. Although we have almost the same results on our footprints, I fully agree with your ideas and suggestions on how to save the Earth.
I also did not know anything about Hong Kong enforcing a law like that. It is nice to see on how some countries already took a step on trying to save the Earth.

I totally agree with you Jade, that we can't depend on one family to improve the world's ecological footprint. We all have to work together to conserve energy. If we continue to live the way we are living now, our natural resources will for sure decrease until it's too late. We can do simply actions to help solve this problem from changing our light bulbs to energy conservig ones to taking public transit since the cost of feul is already soaring through the roof.

Hey Jade,
Yeah, I agree with you as well. It's important that we all work together to preserve what's left of our world. It's great that you do so much to prevent environmental issues. I've heard about the law in Hong Kong too. I think it's actually pretty smart. Except in Canada, it's very rare that you'd see police/officers patroling around, so I don't think it would work out here. But still we shouldn't be littering and be on the lookout for anyone that is.
